Chris Holdsworth defeats Davey Grant to become TUF 18 Men’s Bantamweight Champ

In the Men’s TUF 18 championship, Davey Grant took on Chris Holdsworth, which promised to be a great display of jiu-jitsu. Holdsworth has been the more dominant fighter, but Grant’s displeasure with his free pass proves he wanted to win this the right way. Holdsworth maintained a 5-0 record, while Grant had gone 8-1. This promised to be a great battle to close out the TUF tournament.

In the first round, both fighters came out ready to swing. There were a few solid blows landed on both fighters, but nothing too damaging. The fight was often in the clinch and against the fence, as both fighters tried to score a takedown. Holdsworth was the more active fighter, constantly going for takedowns and trying to land big blows. The round ended with a botched takedown from Grant, with Holdsworth gaining top position in Grant’s guard.

In the second round, Holdsworth continued where he left off, trying to go for several takedowns, landing a beautiful head kick in the process. Once on the ground, Holdsworth was able to transition to Grant’s back and locked in a rear naked choke, earning himself the title of TUF 18 champ and a UFC contract.
