Urijah Faber: One last push for pride

|

It is safe to say that in 10 years and 35 fights, Urijah Faber has seen everything. In just under 3 years in the UFC Faber is going into his 8th fight and is on the brink of his 3rd title shot.  There is only man standing between Faber and another shot at UFC gold. That man is Michael ‘Mayday’ McDonald.

Urijah Faber: One last push for pride

McDonald is one of Mixed Martial Arts best up and coming fighters who no one knows. Mayday has compiled an impressive 16-2 record and has already fought Interim Champion Renan Barao once for the belt back in February of this year. He has rounded up an impressive 4 end of night bonuses in his short stint in the UFC and he is only 22 years old.

The bantamweight division is at a bit of a stand still for the moment. The long awaited return of champion Dominic Cruz early next year will bring the titles together with a fight against Renan Barao. There is a very good chance that whoever wins this match up will be next in line for a shot at the title.

It’s not fair to say that a win is more important for one man than another but the fact is Urijah just has less time left in this sport. He is 34 years old and has been through battles with a who’s who list in the Bantamweight and Featherweight divisions. Urjiah seems to always find a way to win these fights, he stays calm and uses his experience to look impressive and win. No doubt that this is a very interesting fight that can go either way but there is one important question you need to ask yourself. How many non title fights has Urijah Faber lost in his career? The answer is zero
