St-Pierre dropping UFC welterweight title?

|

According to RDS (The French version of The Sports Network in Canada) Georges St-Pierre (25-2) is set to announce today that he will be dropping the UFC Welterweight Title and will be taking a leave of absence from the sport of MMA. Although this has not been confirmed by the GSP camp and until we hear it from the horse’s mouth today when UFC President Dana White and St-Pierre are set to make an announcement during a special media conference call at 2:20pm EST, all of it is pure speculation.

Georges St-Pierre dropping UFC welterweight title?

Again this is rumor but apparently this is coming from very good sources. If GSP does walk away he will be leaving behind a boat load of money on the table. He currently hold the UFC record for most wins in the Octagon at 19 along with another UFC record of most title fight wins at 12.

It will be interesting to see what the fallout will be. Who will fight for the vacant UFC Welterweight Title? Will there be an official tournament? or will it be Hendricks vs. Lawler? Maybe Hendricks vs. Condit 2?

Keep it locked here on MMASucka.com as the conference call gets underway at 2:20pm EST, 11:20 PST
