Trujillo (11-5-1) has fought Roger Bowling in back-to-back fights. At UFC Fight Night 27 the two scrapped to a no-contest because Trujillo landed an illegal knee and Bowling was unable to continue. The rematch happened at UFC on FOX 9 with the Blackzilian winning via second round TKO.

Varner (21-8-1 2NC) is coming off a split decision loss to Gleison Tibau at UFC 164 in August. Prior to that bout he won a split decision of his own against Melvin Guillard at UFC 155. Since returning to the UFC Varner has gone 2-2.

UFC 169 goes down on February 1, 2014 at the Prudential Center at Newark, N.J. The main event will feature a bantamweight title fight between Dominick Cruz and Renan Barao. Also on the card, the featherweight title is up for grabs, as Jose Aldo takes on Ricardo Lamas.
