Former featherweight contender Erik Koch will make his 155-pound debut against Rafaello Oliveira at UFC 170 in February.

Erik Koch makes lightweight debut at UFC 170 against Rafaello Oliveira

UFC officials announced the match-up on Saturday.

Koch (13-3) is on the first two-fight losing skid of his career – with losses to Ricardo Lamas and most recently Dustin Poirier at UFC 164. Prior to the Lamas bout, “New Breed” was riding a four-fight winning streak and looked ever so close to title contention. A move to lightweight could be the boost he needs.

Oliveira (15-6) has had a rough road inside the UFC’s Octagon, going 1-3 since debuting in 2011. His lone victory comes to Yoislandy Izquierdo at UFC 148 and most recently he lost to Edson Barboza via leg kicks at UFC 162.

No word as to where the Koch vs. Oliveira bout will take place on the UFC 170 fight card.

UFC 170 goes down Feb. 22nd from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV. The main event is a Women’s Bantamweight Championship bout pitting two former Olympians against each other, as 2008 freestyle wrestling silver medalist Sara McMann challenges 2008 judo bronze medalist Ronda Rousey.
