UFC on FOX 10 went down this past weekend and while it wasn’t the highlight reel card it could have been it still had some great fights.
In the main event, former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson defeated Josh Thomson in a controversial split decision. Neither fighter did much to prove that they won the fight, but in the eyes of the judges Henderson did.
UFC on FOX 10: What’s next for the main card winners?
The only highlight reel performance on the main card was a head-kick knockout at the end of round one by Donald Cerrone. “The Cowboy” showed off his muay thai skills and planted Adriano Martins on his face with just seconds left in the opening frame.
It’s that time again where we at MMASucka.com derive match-ups that could materialize for the main card winners. Sitting on the matchmaker’s armchair is no easy task by any standards so if your solutions differ from ours, state them in the comments section below.
Let’s get started!

Jeremy Stephens (23-9)
Who’s he should fight next: Conor McGregor
Stephens won his third in a row at UFC on FOX 10 with a unanimous decision victory against Darren Elkins. A fight with McGregor would be a great welcome back bout. The Irish fighter has been out since his August bout with Max Holloway due to a torn ACL and it was stated that he would be out up to 10-months. The time frame could make sense.
Donald Cerrone (22-6 1NC)
Who he should fight next: Edson Barboza
With two highlight reel finishes in a row, Cerrone once again looks like he may be a force in the UFC’s lightweight division. A big head-kick knockout against a very unknown Adriano Martins earned him ‘Knockout of the Night’ honors this past weekend. Barboza is riding a three-fight winning streak and a win over Cerrone could push him up in to title contention, while the same could be said if Cerrone were to get past the Brazilian.
Stipe Miocic (11-1)
Who he should fight next: Winner of Frank Mir vs. Alistair Overeem
Miocic won a boring decision against a very tough Gabriel Gonzaga. While the fight wasn’t the most flashy, it still proved Miocic can hang with some tough talent. To make his move to the upper echelon of the heavyweight division a big-name opponent will need to be beaten and the winner of Frank Mir and Alistair Overeem will do just fine.
Benson Henderson (20-3)
Who he should fight next: T.J. Grant
Unfortunately Henderson has become the man known to take fights to decisions — controversial ones. He may be winning these top notch fights, but his latest victory over Josh Thomson will not earn him a crack at Anthony Pettis’ lightweight title. He will have to prove his worth in the division and a match-up with former number one contender T.J. Grant may be the right path. The only thing standing in the way of this match-up from taking place is that Grant is still night cleared to fight due to a concussion he sustained last September while training.
