With Louis Smolka vacating his Flyweight strap in favor of a move to the UFC’s famed octagon, PXC officials have sought Thailand’s Rambaa Somdet (12-2) and Team Lakay’s Roldan Sangha’an (4-0) as combatants for the now vacant title at PXC 43.
The promotion made the announcement via the Facebook platform.

Promotional poster for PXC 43.PXC 43 takes place March 29th at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City, Philippines. The 125-lbs title bout between Somdet and Sangcha’an is set to serve as the event’s headliner.
Other announced match-ups for the event include a 155-lbs tussle between Reno Remegio Jr. (2-1) and Glen Ranillo (3-2) and Ale Cali (5-2) vs. Ernesto Montilla Jr. (3-2) at Flyweight.
Somdet (pictured), even at a brittle age of 39, is undeniably Thailand’s most successful product in the Mixed Martial Arts landscape. ‘M16’ is on a tear with an eleven fight win streak, which includes victories over Hiroyuki Abe and Ulysses Gomez among others. The Shooto Flyweight champ has plied his trade in promotions such as GRABAKA and DEEP, but will now look to further extend his career beyond the Japanese border when makes his second appearance under the PXC banner. He had a successful promotional debut at PXC 38, where he notched a first round submission victory over Rabin Catalan.
Sangcha’an may be at a disadvantage in terms of fight experience, but the Filipino fighter has all the tools to hold his own with the best in the cage. The Baguio city native went 2-0 in 2013, a stint which included a promotional debut victory over PXC staple Ernesto Montilla Jr.. It was actually rumored late last year that the young prodigy had signed with the UFC, but that turned out to be mere speculation. However, with a win over a respected opponent like Somdet, that rumor could become a reality here in 2014.
As it stands, the PXC 43 fight card includes:
- – Rambaa Somdet vs. Roldan Sangcha’an (For vacant PXC Flyweight Championship title)
- – Ale Cali vs. Ernesto Montilla Jr.
- – Reno Remegio Jr. vs. Glen Ranillo
- – Gina Iniong vs. TBA
