Officials have been forced to make a few shuffles to the AFC 8 fight card after Jack Johns and Alex Volkanovski suffered injuries this week.
The beneficiaries will be Dean Purdon (4-2) and Daniel Way (2-3), who will make their way to the line-up to take on Rodolfo Marques and Daniel Almeida respectively.
AFC 8 fight card shuffles: Injuries force Jack Johns and Alex Volkanovski off line-up
AFC announced the changes via Facebook today.
AFC 8 takes place Saturday at the Melbourne Pavilion in Victoria, Australia. The headlining bout features a riveting Lightweight scrap between adopted Australian and former UFC vet Bernardo Magalhaes (12-3) and Nick Patterson (12-4).
Purdon aims to snap a two-fight losing skid under the AFC banner. Prior to that, he was 4-0, notching up victories over Peter Davenport and Joseph Murphy among others. Purdon replaces Volkanovski, who was forced to withdraw from his contest with Marques due to a hand infection.
Way, meanwhile, is a native of Victoria, who’ll be looking to make it 2-1 in the AFC ring come fight night. ‘Grasshopper’ last featured at a King of the Ring event in July last year, where he picked up a split decision win.
The latest AFC 8 line-up now includes:
- Bernado Magalhaes vs. Nick Patterson
- Dean Purdon vs. Rodolfo Marques
- Corey Nelson vs. Rick Alchin
- Joel Fisher vs. Aden Baron
- Aldin Bates vs. Matt McGuiness
- Daniel Way vs. Daniel Almeida
- Scott Noras vs. Kael Coster
