You may know him from his time with Vancouver’s Battlefield Fight League, or more recently World Series of Fight Canada — now Don “The Voice” Andrews will be taking his vocal skills to Northern BC’s Fivestar Fight League.
MMASucka.com learned of the news from Fivestar Fight League officials on Monday.
Don “The Voice” Andrews to serve as ring announcer for Fivestar Fight League
The man known as “The Voice” was the exclusive ring announcer for WSOF Canada, however he has been granted the rights to work for FFL. Some necessary steps needed to be in place for this to work and we got the details from Fivestar FL’s Tosha Mytron.
“We’ve developed a great working relationship with WSOF, we’ve released fighters and even our ring girl for their shows. So we thought about contacting them to see if they would be comfortable with us asking Don if he could announce this upcoming show.”
Darren Owen and Steve Fader run one of the biggest promotions in Canada and have worked to get the best in cage announcer in the industry. One may wonder why the organization would let him work for the ‘competition’. WSOF’s Steve Fader explained their reasoning behind it.
“The reason behind why we let Don work with five star is because of our close relationship with justin Donally. He has long been a supporter of what Darren and I are trying to accomplish and we want to make sure we support him in turn. Don is the best in the industry in my opinion and he needs to keep busy so if we aren’t using him, we gladly allow him to help an organization that supports WSOF. If it had of been anyone else the answer would have been no. Don has a family and needs To stay busy so we want to make sure that happens.”
Andrews has worked plenty of mixed martial arts shows in his career, however he was ‘very flattered’ at the opportunity.
“Very flattered…. I’m an MMA fan so work is always fun. I’m happy to be making my mark on the MMA world and look forward to working many more events.”
Andrews voice can also be heard in other sporting events in Vancouver such as the Vancouver Giants, Vancouver Canadians and BC Lions.
