The city of Cincinnati will be getting a UFC Fight Night event in May and a bantamweight match-up between Eddie Wineland and Johnny Eduardo has been slated for the fight card.
UFC officials announced the match-up on Wednesday.
Eddie Wineland vs Johnny Eduardo set for UFC Fight Night in Cincinnati
Wineland (21-9-1) fought Renan Barao for the interim bantamweight championship at UFC 165 last September and was finished early in the second round. He went on to face Yves Jabouin at UFC on FOX 10 and was able to finish him with punches in the second round.
Eduardo (26-9) was riding an eleven fight winning streak coming in to his UFC debut in August 2011. He lost via unanimous decision to current contender Raphael Assunção, but was able to follow up with a decision win of his own against Jeff Curran at UFC on FUEL TV 3. The Brazilian was expected to fight on a couple of different occasions, however injuries forced him out of action.
No word as to where the Wineland vs. Eduardo fight will be placed on the UFC Fight Night in Cincinnati card.
UFC Fight Night will go down on May 10 from Cincinnati’s U.S. Bank Arena.
