MMA fighter Helen Harper raising funds to reach ‘TUF: 20′ tryouts

|

The life of a Mixed Martial Artist is not straightforward by a long shot. Contrary to popular belief, there isn’t as much glitz and glamour as some might assume.

There’re multiple training sessions to get to, a strict diet to follow to aid recovery and endurance, and for most fighters, a middle wedged job that provides them just enough to get through their daily living and training regimens.

Talk to any fighter and ask them why they choose such a lifestyle and well, 90% of them will tell you it’s their passion, and their willingness to go the extra mile to get to the biggest stage in all of Mixed Martial Arts – the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

The UFC is known for ensuring financial stability among other incentives, which is a welcome boost for most fighters who struggle to make ends meet in their daily lives.

One of the most popular avenues fighters bank on to earn a spot on the UFC’s roster is through the promotion’s very own MMA reality series called “The Ultimate Fighter” – a competition that awards the winner a lucrative contract with the Las Vegas-based outfit.

Helen Harper (2-0) is hoping to raise £2,000 before April 28th in her attempt to make it to the tryouts of Season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter in Las Vegas, a season that for the very first time features an all female Strawweights cast.

Harper is originally from England but now resides in Phuket, Thailand where she plies her trade with Phuket Top Team. The proceeds raised from this campaign will go directly towards Harper’s flights and accommodation.

She will be looking to offset her travel expenses through the help of friends and fans.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I would absolutely love to be a part of. Everyone who knows me, can confirm I put 110% in to everything I do, and this is no different,” she said. “All the money raised will go towards flights and accommodation whilst I am in Vegas for the trials and I promise hand on my heart that I will give it everything I’ve got and make you all proud. Thank you to everyone who has supported me no matter how: This is for you guys!”

So far, she’s at the beginning stages and still has a long way to go. She will award the top five contributors with exclusive signed t-shirts.

It’s a win-win situation – fans will get return on their investment with rewards while Harper gets the opportunity to make it to the big show.
