UFC veteran James McSweeney signs with ONE FC

|

ONE Fighting Championship has added another Heavyweight fighter to its ranks with the addition of a UFC veteran.

While no contract details have been disclosed, James McSweeney (12-11) has officially signed with the promotion. MMA Mania first broke the news, with sources close to the situation later confirming the news with MMASucka. ONE FC is yet to make an official announcement on the signing.

The coup comes hot off the heels from a recent string of signings made by ONE FC just days ago.

McSweeney, who has experienced a jekyll and hyde run in his career to date, is now with Phuket Top Team in Thailand. The veteran is best known for an appearance on season 10 of “The Ultimate Fighter” and his consecutive stint under the UFC banner soon after.

At 6’4”, the 32-year-old Brit is 7-3 in his last ten outings. He was most recently seen in action at a Final Fight Championship event in Slovenia in November last year, where he scored an Armbar submission victory over Stefan Traunmuller. McSweeney brings a wealth of experience to an ever-expanding ONE FC Heavyweight division, having picked up bouts against the likes of Ricardo Romero, Travis Browne, Fabio Maldonado and Emanuel Newton among many others. All twelve of his victories have ended via TKO or submission.

Although not official, sources close to MMASucka say he’s been slated to face Australian Heavyweight stand-out, Chris Lokteff, at ONE FC 15: Rise of Heroes in May.
