A solid undercard continues to build up for UFC 174, as the promotion announced that Canadian Roland Delorme will welcome Japanese debutant Michinori Tanaka. This fight joins Yves Jabouin vs. Mike Easton and Kiichi Kunimoto vs. Daniel Sarafian on the Vancouver, BC card, set for June 14th.
CTV Sportsnet’s “Showdown” Joe Ferraro first reported the bantamweight bout, which was then confirmed earlier today by UFC officials.
“Stunning” Roland Delorme (9-2, 1 N/C) joined the UFC as part of the TUF 14 cast, going 3-1 with 1 No Contest since joining the main roster. Last seen losing a razor thin split decision to Alex Caceres at UFC 165, Delorme is a submission specialist who has yet to be finished, with both his losses coming at the hands of the judges. Will the Manitoba-based fighter be able to to get back on the winning track and give the debuting Tanaka his first loss?
Michinori Tanaka (9-0) has been wreaking havoc in the Asia-Pacific MMA scene for nearly 4 years now. The grappling ace, who trains at Yokohama’s vaunted Groundslam gym with the likes of Shinichi “BJ” Kojima, has 5 submission victories in his 9 appearances. Will he be able to stave off the Octagon jitters and make it 10-0 with a win over Delorme?
UFC 174 goes down June 14th at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC. No main event has been announced for the card at this time. Stay tuned to MMASucka for more on this and other events.
