Strawweight title fight between Jessica Aguilar and Emi Fujino set for WSOF 10

It looks like the World Series of Fighting’s tenth installment will now have a triple championship header.

According to a report on Fight Sport Asia, ‘The Kamikaze Angel’ Emi Fujino (13-7) is set to contest defending champ Jessica Aguilar (17-4) for the promotion’s Strawweight strap at WSOF 10 in June.

WSOF 10 takes place June 21 at the Event Center in San Jose State University. The main card airs on the NBC Sports Network.

Previously announced match-ups include a 145-lbs title headliner between reigning champ Georgi Karakhanyan (23-3-1) and Rick Glenn (14-2), and an  inaugural WSOF Middleweight championship title tussle between David Branch (13-3) and Jesse Taylor (27-9).

Now, Fujino vs. Aguilar for the Strawweight title joins the fold, and this could shape up to be arguably the organization’s most stacked line-up to date.

Fujino is one of the pioneers of Women’s MMA in Asia, previously making appearances in famed promotions such as Smackgirl and Valkyrie. But, her combat experience extends further than just Mixed Martial Arts. She holds bouts in Professional Wrestling, Kickboxing and Shoot Boxing as well.

She was scheduled to make her promotional debut at WSOF 9, but the promotion couldn’t find her an opponent. Despite seven losses on her resume, Fujino is yet to be finished in pro MMA competition. She has won three of her past five outings.

Aguilar, meanwhile, is riding on an eight-fight winning streak and is widely considered as one of the world’s best female Strawweight fighters. She captured the promotion’s inaugural 115-lbs women’s title by submitting Alida Gray at WSOF 8.

With the addition, the updated WSOF 10 line-up now includes:

  • Georgi Karakhanyan vs. Rick Glenn (For WSOF Featherweight Championship title)
  • David Branch vs. Jesse Taylor (For vacant WSOF Middleweight Championship title)
  • Emi Fujino vs. Jessica Aguilar (For WSOF Women’s Strawweight Championship title)
