The MMA Gods seem to be set on Sarah Kaufman not fighting in Quebec City, as her latest opponent, Amanda Nunes, has suffered a hand injury. This is the second opponent to drop out of this bout due to injury – the first being Shayna Baszler. Nunes posted an x-ray of her injury on both her Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Amanda “The Lioness” Nunes (9-3) was originally scheduled to face off with UFC debutant Alexis Dufresne at UFC on FOX 11 before being shunted over to the TUF: Nations Finale to take on Kaufman. She is seen as one of the rising prospects in the UFC’s women’s bantamweight division, and holds stoppage victories over Sheila Gaff and Germaine de Randemie in her last two bouts with the promotion. No timetable has been set for her return.
A replacement opponent has yet to be announced for Sarah Kaufman. Both Lauren Murphy and Tonya Evinger are lobbying for the bout, but the UFC has not indicated whether it will sign someone else for the former Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion to fight at the TUF: Nations Finale or reschedule her next bout for a later event.
