The UFC’s return to Vancouver BC on June 14th appears to be filling out. A light heavyweight match-up between Ryan Bader and Rafael Cavalcante has apparently been set for UFC 174.
The Canadian Press wire service first reported the story earlier today, stating that “a source” has confirmed both fighters verbally agreeing to the bout. The UFC’s Dave Sholler has since confirmed the bout.
“Darth” Bader (16-4) was last seen demolishing Anthony Perosh en route to a unanimous decision victory at UFC Fight Night 33. The powerhouse wrestle-boxer, who won the 8th season of The Ultimate Fighter, is a perennial top 15 light heavyweight, and is looking to make what may be his last run at a title shot. Will he take the next step with a win over Cavalcante?
Rafael “Feijao” (12-4, 1 N/C) is also coming off a win, a quick TKO of Igor Pokrajac at UFC Fight Night 32. A knock-out artist much like his opponent, “Feijao” is the only man to hold a victory over the surging middleweight Yoel Romero. Will he be able to get a win over Bader and climb higher in the 205 lbs. ranks?
