Max Holloway faced Andrew Fili in UFC 172’s main card opener in a highly anticipated Featherweight contest.

The bout looked to be a spectacle on paper and sure enough, some sparks were delivered.

The first round commenced with both starlets engaging on their feet. Andrew Fili looked to be the better fighter, though, as he repeatedly tagged his young Hawaiian opponent with shots.

Max Holloway, though, found his range soon enough and started taking huge strides towards his opponent. He eventually forced Fili to resort to takedowns on a couple of occasions, but even then, the Team Alpha Male product wasn’t able to do anything substantial.

Holloway was clearly the fresher man heading into the third frame and as the fight looked to be heading to a decision, he pulled off a slick Guillotine choke which forced Fili to tap repetitively.

Final Result: Max Holloway def. Andre Fili via Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 3:39 of Round 3
