After competing on Season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter, Sarah “Cheesecake” will finally make her UFC debut at the Finale for Season 19. The BC-based grappler will take on fellow debutant Alexis Dufresne in a bantamweight bout.
Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com broke the story earlier today, citing “sources close to the situation.”
Moras (3-1) was already considered a solid prospect by many before entering the Ultimate Fighter House, and she proved her worthy by defeating tough-as-nails WMMA pioneer Tara Larosa in the preliminaries, and then tapping out Peggy Morgan in the quarter finals. After losing to eventual Season winner Julianna Pena in the semi-finals, disappointment would strike again as a knee injury prevented “Cheesecake” from competing on the TUF 18 Finale. With health issues behind her, will the BC native be able to make her official UFC debut a successful one?
Dufresne (5-0) may not have the same notoriety as her opponent, she does have a spectacular pedigree. An IBJJF gold medallist, the Team Quest member also trains alongside the likes of Dan Henderson and WSOF standout Jesse Taylor, and holds 1st round finishes in all 5 of her bouts. Will she be able to keep the streak alive?
The TUF 19 Finale goes down on July 6th at the Mandalay Bay Events Centre, closing off International Fight Week. The main event is a coach’s battle at featherweight between Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn. Stay tuned to MMASucka.com for more on this and other events.
