After 35 professional fights in an illustrious MMA career, Hatsu Hioki was stopped for the very time on Friday night, at UFC Fight Night 43 in New Zealand.
That honor arrived courtesy of one Charles Oliveira, who pulled off a remarkable submission maneuver which forced a tap at the 4:32 mark.

Hioki tried a Flying Triangle choke in the opening stages but when that didn’t work out, Oliveira rightly responded with a Guillotine choke attempt. As the first round further progressed, Hioki reversed positions following a successful takedown attempt by his counterpart and managed to take the Brazilian’s back. Oliveira, however, fought out of it, and the round concluded with both fighters trading shots on their feet.
As the fight hit the mat in the second round following an extended break by Oliveira after an accidental eye poke, it was Hioki who pounced first with a close Rear-Naked Choke submission attempt. It was a neat battle between two skilled Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belts but after Oliveira escaped the maneuver, he locked in a smooth Arm-in Guillotine choke and promptly garnered a tap-out.
