A training injury has forced Jake Klemme from his RFA 16 co-main event against Jarred Mercado. Stepping in on just over one week’s notice is Spokane, Washington’s Daniel Swain.

MMASucka.com learned of the bout from sources close to the fight.

Klemme suffered minor injuries, which included sprained tendons in his elbow.

Swain (11-3) is coming off a first round rear-naked choke victory against Roy Bradshaw at a King of the Cage event in February. The Trevor Prangley AKA fighter was riding a four-fight winning streak coming into his final fight of 2013 but fell short to J.P. Reese at XFC 27.

One of Swain’s most notable victories was a rear-naked choke against UFC fighter Sam Sicilia back in 2011.

Mercado (11-1) most recently defeated Josh Huber at a regional show in Colorado to bounce back from the first loss of his career, which was against Jordan Stiner in October 2013.

RFA 16 airs live on AXS TV on July 25 from the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colorado.
