On Thursday morning, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones posted a video on his official Instagram page of him receiving stitches for a cut above his left eye.

The cut comes just two-months before his light heavyweight title defense against Daniel Cormier at UFC 178.
Jones (20-1) won the UFC light heavyweight championship at UFC 128 in 2011 and has since defended his belt seven times. Most recently he earned a unanimous decision against Glover Teixeira at UFC 172 in April. The champ was expected to face Alexander Gustafsson for a second time, but injury prevented that and he now gets his wish granted to fight DC.
Cormier (15-0) owns UFC victories over the likes of Frank Mir, Roy Nelson, Patrick Cummins and Dan Henderson. A two-time U.S. Olympian and former standout wrestler at Oklahoma State University, Cormier has long been considered a potential threat to Jones’ reign as 205-pound champion.
UFC 178 goes down on September 27 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
