The fight drew plenty of boos and jeers from the crowd but that did little to deter Ning Guangyou from notching a Unanimous Decision call over Yang Jianping in the UFC’s delayed ‘TUF: China’ Featherweight tournament final match-up.
UFC Fight Night 48 Results: Ning Guangyou takes ‘TUF: China’ 145-lbs crown
The bout kicked off the main card for UFC Fight Night 48, which took place at the The Venetian’s CotaiArena in Macau, China.
Jianping’s inability to connect cleanly with strikes ensured that the model-turned fighter was in for a long night. Jianping saw success with multiple inside leg kicks but apart from those, he never really got going.
Guangyou’s game plan of scoring takedowns in the first round, meanwhile, worked to perfection, as his top control seemingly kept his opponent at bay.
The fight was still up for grabs as both men headed into the final stanza, but neither of them were interested in pulling off a stoppage, instead, remained content in heading to the judges’ scorecards.
The lackluster affair eventually resulted in Guangyou getting his hands raised, with a trio of 29-28 scores. With the victory, he bagged the ‘TUF: China’ 145-lbs title.
Official result: Ning Guangyou def. Jianping Yang via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
