In the main card’s opening bill at UFC 177 in Sacramento, Diaz brothers’ affiliate Yancy Madeiros delivered an unusual choke to submit UFC newcomer Damon Jackson in their Lightweight showing.
Jackson fired in all cylinders throughout the contest, mostly content with backing Madeiros up against the fence in hopes of landing some takedowns. However, it was Medeiros who looked threatening, dishing out a Guillotine choke attempt and controlling the stand-up exchanges.
The finish came at the 1:54 mark of Round 2 when Jackson left his neck exposed during a takedown attempt which allowed Medeiros to swiftly slide his arms under his neck for a modified bulldog choke. Jackson briefly turned his neck to escape but that only made the situation worst, and before he knew it, he was fast asleep on the mat.
Final Result: Yancy Medeiros def. Damon Jackson via Submission (Reverse Guillotine Choke) at 1:54 of Round 2
