A fun flyweight tilt set for UFC 179 as Scott Jorgensen meets Wilson Reis in Brazil.
UFC officials confirmed the fight late Tuesday.
Jorgensen (15-9) was set for fight Henry Cejudo at UFC 177 before the Cejudo pulled out last minute. He is 2-3 in his last 5 and 1-2 since dropping to the flyweight division. He coming off of a big win over Danny Martinez in Albuquerque. Before this Scott lost three in a row to Formiga, Makovsky and Faber following his win over John Albert which saw him receive both Submission and Fight of the Night.
Reis (18-5) is 4-1 in his last 5 and 2-1 since joining the UFC. Reis has fought across three weight classes throughout his career. Featherweight, bantamweight and flyweight. He was the EliteXC bantamweight champion 6 fights into his career beating Byan Caraway and Zach Makovsky on the way there. He made a successful flyweight debut recently at UFC Fight Night 49 in Tulsa, Oklahoma as he defeated Joby Sanchez via unanimous decision on the undercard.
The bouts placement on the card is unknown at this time, but it should be either a late prelim or early main card fight.
UFC 179 takes place October 25 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the Maracanãzinho Gymnasium.
