Benson Henderson interested in moving up to the welterweight division

|

Benson Henderson has made an interest in moving up to the welterweight division, currently a top fighter at 155 pounds, and the former lightweight title holder.

UFC President Dana White said he’s okay with Henderson moving up and the choice is his.

‘Smooth’ last fought in the main event of UFC Fight Night 49 is Tulsa, OK on Aug. 23 where he was knocked out by Raphael dos Anjos in the very first round.  The stoppage was somewhat controversial, but ref John McCarthy said afterwards he made the right decision to stop the fight when he did.

If Henderson moves up to 170 pounds, he would be up against fighters such as Robbie Lawler, Tyron Woodley, and Hector Lombard, three of the top welterweight fighters as of right now.  If he stays as is, he would be able to rebound his loss against fighters such as Jim Miller, and more.
