Top ranked heavyweight Mark Hunt knocked out Roy Nelson in the main event of UFC Fight Night 52 in Tokyo earlier tonight/this morning (Sept. 19/20) and although taking a few hard shots in the fight that only lasted a round and a half approximately, he is already asking for his next fight.
Hunt (10-8-1) does not have a specific opponent in mind, but he is interested in fighting in the city he currently resides in, Sydney, AUS. Many top ranked heavyweights have recently been booked for fights, which is obviously a problem for Hunt if he wants to move forwards and fight very soon. Top 5 fighters Junior dos Santos and Stipe Miocic are set to fight, Alistair Overeem and Stefan Struve are set to fight, Travis Browne is taking on Brendan Schaub, and more. Some possible opponents for Hunt are Josh Barnett and Andrei Arlovski, who is coming off of a KO win over ‘Bigfoot’ Silva last weekend.
At the post-fight press conference, Hunt was asked if he would fight someone below the top 10, if he could fight in Sydney. Fighting someone that wouldn’t move him up in the rankings is not something he’s fond of doing, as he is focused on moving up and getting one last chance at UFC gold, but to fight in his city he would consider fighting someone not in the top 10 in the official UFC rankings.
