UFC 178 post-fight bonuses: 4 fighters pocket extra $50k

In the main event, UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson made quick work of Chris Cariaso, submitting him via kimura in the second round, after winning the first round dominantly.

Also on the card, the two fights everyone was looking forward to the most, featured Donald Cerrone taking former Bellator champion Eddie Alvarez to decision, winning 29-28 on all three judges’ scorecards.  Conor McGregor made a huge impact in the featherweight division by finishing Dustin Poirier in the first round, in a little over a minute.  This fight was considered “The People’s Main Event” and the hype train of McGregor has continued on.

Former UFC champion Dominick Cruz made a successful comeback in almost three years, knocking out Takeya Mizugaki in the very first round.  Cat Zingano defined herself the number one contender at Women’s 135 by taking out Amanda Nunes in the third round.  A fun fight was featured on the main card, which featured both fighters to be injured at times, as Yoel Romero finished Tim Kennedy in round 3.

As always, UFC officials announced at the UFC post-fight press conference who won a $50,000 post-fight bonus.

The post-fight bonus winners are:

Fight of the Night: Yoel Romero vs. Tim Kennedy

Performance of the Night #1: Dominick Cruz

Performance of the Night #2: Conor McGregor
