Just minutes after signing with the UFC, President Dana White announced that Josh Burkman would be taking on the number six ranked Hector Lombard at UFC 182 in Las Vegas.

Burkman (27-10) last fought for the UFC in 2008 and was released after a three-fight losing skid. Since leaving the organization, Burkman has gone 9-2 with losses to Jordan Mein and Steve Carl.

Lombard (34–4–1, 1NC) is riding a two-fight winning streak, with his most recent victory coming over Jake Shields at UFC 171 in March. Since joining the UFC in 2012, “Showeather” has gone 3-2.

No word as to where the Burkman vs. Lombard bout will be place on the UFC 182 fight card, but it will likely be on the PPV portion.

UFC 182 goes down on January 3 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. In the main event Jon Jones will put his light heavyweight title on the line against Daniel Cormier.
