Bellator 131 in San Diego gets a fun bantamweight contest in the form of strikers; Mike ‘The Marine’ Richman and Nam Phan.
The fight was announced during the live broadcast of Bellator 129 on Friday.
Phan (20-13) is a veteran of the UFC and the Ultimate Fighter having appeared on season 12 of the show. During his 8-fight stint in the UFC, Nam had a rather unimpressiver record of 6-2. He was released from the company following a 3-fight skid, with the most recent being a unanimous decision loss to Vaughan Lee. Since the release, Phan has fought two fights in Japan. He finished both, one by submissiong, the other by technical knockout.
Richman (17-5) is a veteran of the Bellator MMA cage and a former featherweight tournament finalist. Following a 5-4 stint as a Bellator featherweight, Richman made the a successful drop to bantamweight, knocking out Ed West in the first round this past September.
This bout will be one of the featured contests of the evening.
Bellator 131 is expected to take place on November 15 at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California. The card will be headlined a light heavyweight contest between Tito Ortiz and Stephan Bonnar.
