UFC 180 is in the books, and although it wasn’t the most stacked card on paper, it turned out to be a not bad event. The main card was full with all but one first round finish, the headliner ended in the second. In the main event, now UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum captured UFC gold with a TKO win over Mark Hunt. In the co-headliner, rising fighter Kelvin Gastelum took out top welterweight Jake Ellenberger, to extend his record to 10-0, and become the second ‘TUF’ winner to start out 5-0 in the Octagon. Also on the main card, Ricardo Lamas derailed the Dennis Bermudez hype train, submitting him in the first round.
As always, UFC officials give out four $50,000 post-fight bonuses; two for ‘Fight of the Night’ honours and two for the two fighters who performed the best.
