Sergio Pettis drops to 125-pounds, takes on Ryan Benoit at UFC 185
UFC officials announced the 125-pound match-up on Tuesday.
Pettis (12-1) is riding a two-fight winning streak, with his most recent victory, a unanimous decision against Matt Hobar at UFC 181 in December. The bout earned both combatants ‘Fight of the Night’ honors. Since making his way to the UFC, “The Phenom” is 3-1.
Benoit (7-3) made his Octagon debut at The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale in November and came up short against Josh Sampo. The 25-year-old has fought for a number of big name organizations, such as Legacy FC and Maximum Fighting Championship.
The bout between Pettis and Benoit will likely take place on the UFC 185 preliminary card.
UFC 185 takes place live from the American Airways Center in Dallas on March 14. In the main event, Anthony Pettis will attempt to defend his lightweight title for the second time against number one contender Raphael dos Anjos.
