A featherweight bout between Chad Mendes and Ricardo Lamas is set to headline the UFC Fight Night 63 main event in April.
UFC officials announced the bout on Sunday evening.
Chad Mendes vs Ricardo Lamas set for UFC Fight Night 63 main event
Mendes (16-2) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to 145-pound king pin Jose Aldo at UFC 179 in October. Prior to that loss, Mendes was riding a five-fight winning streak, dating back to his first bout with Aldo.
Lamas (15-3) had been promised a title shot for some time and that finally came to fruition at UFC 169 in February 2014 and he came up short on the judges scorecards. Since that loss, Lamas has gone on a two-fight winning streak, with his most recent outing a submission victory over Dennis Bermudez at UFC 180.
UFC Fight Night 63 goes down on April 4 from the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia.
