For the first time in his 15-year career, “The Spider” Anderson Silva has a no contest blemish on his professional mixed martial arts record.
At UFC 183, Silva defeated Diaz on the judges scorecards, however this past Tuesday it was revealed that both combatants failed their pre-fight drug tests.
Anderson Silva’s UFC 183 victory over Nick Diaz changed to no contest
According to Brazilian newspaper Folha NAC executive director Bob Bennett said that the bout will now be changed to a no contest, “Yes, it will be ruled a NC (no contest). I don’t know if he will receive the win bonus after this change. That’s UFC’s call, but a percentage of his purse will be held because of this episode.”
As he said, there is no word as to whether the former middleweight champion will receive his win bonus. If you were lucky enough to bet over at UFCBetting.com you will likely keep your winnings.
Silva (33-6, 1NC) is now on a 0-2, 1NC streak in his last three outings, dating back to 2012.
UFC 183 went down on January 31 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
