Two former champions are being penciled in to do battle at the UFC’s debut in the Philippines, MMA-in-Asia.com is reporting. Former WEC Featherweight Champion Urijah Faber will be taking on former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar in a bout contested at 145 lbs. when the UFC comes to Manila, PHI on May 16th.

“The California Kid” Urijah Faber (32-7) went 2/3 in 2014, losing to then-bantamweight champ Renan Barao at the start of the year but bouncing back with wins over up-and-comers Alex Caceres and Francisco Rivera. A strong wrestler with a nasty choke game, Faber has not lost in a non-title bout at any since a TKO loss to Tyson Griffin in 2005. Will the streak continue with a win over Edgar?

Frankie “The Answer” Edgar (18-4-1) also won 2 fights in 2014, scoring finishes over BJ Penn and Cub Swanson in his only bouts of the year. The Serra-Longo is also known for his wrestling, as well as his tremendous heart. Will he be able to use his force of will to gain a win over the legendary Faber?
