UFC Fight Night: Henderson vs. Thatch (UFN 60) was live from the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado on February 14, 2015.
The main event saw many changes, as did the entire card due to a slew of injuries. It was originally supposed to be a bout between two top 10 welterweights as Matt Brown and Tarec Saffiedine were set to square off, but Saffiedine was forced out due to injury. The main event was then set to be Brandon Thatch vs. Stephen Thompson, but Thompson was forced out due to injury. Ultimately, the main event would see the welterweight debut of former UFC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson as he took on welterweight prospect Brandon Thatch.
Check out our biggest winners and losers from UFN 60 below.
Winners:
Benson Henderson:
Benson Henderson took a fight on short notice and out of his natural weight class to save the UFN 60 card. The former UFC Lightweight Champion was at a large size disadvantage as he took on one of the biggest welterweights in the division in Brandon Thatch. Henderson was not being picked by many to win, but the MMA Lab product proved all of his doubters wrong. The 31-year-old executed his game plan to perfection on his way to a rear-naked choke victory at 3:58 of Round 4. Whether he stays at welterweight or goes back down to lightweight one thing will be certain and that is that he will come to fight against whomever the UFC has to offer.
Neil Magny:
Neil Magny had one of the most impressive calendar years in the history of the UFC in 2014, as he was able to pick up five straight wins. Magny looked to improve his winning streak to six as he took on Kiichi Kunimoto at UFN 60. The 27-year-old looked absolutely spectacular and capped off his dominant performance with a rear-naked choke submission victory at 1:22 of Round 3. The Grudge Training Center welterweight currently holds the longest winning streak in the division and will certainly get a ranked opponent in his next fight.
Losers:
Patrick Walsh:
Patrick Walsh was set to take on Dan Kelly at UFN 60. Walsh missed the middleweight limit of 186-pounds by a large margin the night before. The night of the fight would not go any better. Walsh’s fight with Kelly was not very fan pleasing. Both guys put on a non-UFC caliber performance. Ultimately, Kelly was able to defeat Walsh via unanimous decision. The ‘TUF 19’ alum could not have had a worse weekend and his UFC future may be in doubt.
Rodrigo de Lima:
Rodrigo de Lima dropped down to lightweight after losing to Neil Magny and was set to take on Efrain Escudero at UFN 60. The fight was not close. De Lima took a beaten for the entirety of the fight as he was completely outmatched on the feet. Now 0-2 in his UFC career in two lopsided fights, de Lima’s UFC career may very well be in jeopardy.
