In a card headlined by Will Brooks defending his Bellator lightweight title vs. Dave Jansen, the champion at the end of the night may very well know who their next challenger will be in the form of whoever wins between Poland’s Marcin Held taking on Russia’s Alexander ‘Tiger’ Sarnavskiy.
Held (20-3) is one of the most interesting fighters in the sport at the moment. A 23 year old with tons of experience and a world class ground game to boot, Held is currently on a five fight win streak with a decision victory over Patricky Freire in his last outing. Prior to this he had 3 submission victories and a knockout since losing to current title challenger Dave Jansen in early 2013.
Sarnavskiy (30-2) is also on a five fight win streak, but only has one win inside the Bellator cage during that time, that being a quick submission victory over Dakota Cochrane in late 2014. The other four fights on his current streak took place in his native Russia. His last loss came in late 2013 to current champion Will Brooks.
The event will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between ‘Ill’ Will Brooks and Dave Jansen. A fun middleweight fight between Joe Schilling and Rafael Carvalho take the co-main event slot. Former heavyweight Joey Beltran is also slated to be making his middleweight debut on this card against Bellator veteran Brian Rogers. Saad Awad, a man who is 1-1 with current champion Will Brooks with one win over him via knockout, is also fighting on the undercard.
Bellator 136 will take place at the Bren Events Center in Irvine, California on April 10.
