Former UFC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson could be stepping back inside the cage as a welterweight, at least that’s what he hopes.

Benson Henderson wants fight with Erick Silva

It was announced on Saturday that Ben Saunders had pulled out of his UFC Fight Night 62 bout with Erick Silva due to injury. Henderson quickly tweeted that he would be interested in getting back in there.

Henderson (22-5) was riding a two-fight losing streak, when he decided to make the move up to 170-pounds. In the main event at UFC Fight Night 60, “Smooth” proved that he is a force to be reckoned with at any weight class, as he finished the much larger Brandon Thatch.

If Henderson is chosen to step in, he will have about two weeks to prepare for the Brazilian.

UFC Fight Night 62 takes place at Maracanainho gymnasim and features Demian Maia vs. Ryan LaFlare in the co-main event.
