UFC Fight Night London: Barnatt v Nilsson

A middleweight bout has been added to the upcoming event in Manila, the Philippines, as Filipino-American Mark Munoz is set to take on Luke Barnatt.

After rumors surfaced the internet late on Monday night (initial report on BloodyElbow.com), UFC officials confirmed the matchup on Tuesday morning at the press conference promoting the event.

Munoz is coming off a disappointing first-round submission loss to Roan Carneiro, who was making his return to the promotion — at UFC 184 less than two weeks ago.  Prior to that, he was stopped by top middleweight Gegard Mousasi. ‘The Filipino Wrecking Machine’ could be in a must-win situation here.

Barnatt came into the UFC as a top prospect, but hasn’t shown the success many fans expected to see.  He’s dropped two in a row, with decision losses to Sean Strickland and Roger Narvaez.

The card placement for the bout is unknown at this time, but the bout will likely be featured on the main card.

UFC Fight Night 66 takes place live from Mall of Asia Arena in Manila on May 15.  In the main event, Frankie Edgar takes on Urijah Faber in a highly anticipated featherweight five-round bout.
