Rua (22-10) is riding a two-fight losing skid, with losses to Dan Henderson and most recently Ovince St. Preux. Both losses came via TKO. Shogun has had a rough patch inside the Octagon, going 1-4 in his last five outings.

Nogueira (21-6) has not fought inside the cage since July 2014, where he lost by first round knockout against number one contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. Prior to that loss, the Brazilian was riding a two-fight winning streak, with victories over Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans.

The two PRIDE superstars fought ten years ago under the Japan banner, with Shogun taking home the unanimous decision.

The Rua vs. Nogueira bout is expected to be the evening’s co-main event.

UFC 190 goes down on August 1, 2015 from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The main event is a battle for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship, as Ronda Rousey heads to enemy territory to take on Brazil’s own Bethe Correia.
