Cris Cyborg Justino is expected to defend her Invicta FC featherweight belt later this summer, although following a report on Brazilian outlet Globo, UFC President Dana White confirmed to UFC Tonight’s Ariel Helwani that the Brazilian is currently under contract with UFC parent company, Zuffa.
Dana White confirms Cris Cyborg is currently under contract with Zuffa
Although, this doesn’t mean she instantly will get a shot at UFC gold against current bantamweight queen Ronda Rousey, because there is one condition in effect.
‘Cyborg’ must make 135-pounds, the bantamweight limit, to compete in the UFC.
She has been under contract with Zuffa for over two months now, well before she defended her Invicta FC gold last month at Invicta FC 11.
White told Helwani that when ‘Cyborg’ makes the drop down to 135-pounds and successfully makes weight, they can begin to set up the highly anticipated Rousey vs. Justino matchup. But for now, we’ll continue seeing her fight in Invicta FC — until she makes the drop.
