|

A former UFC fighter rescues a child, Ireland’s new king reads mean tweets, the face of the UFC takes over Wrestlemania, Rush doesn’t close the door on MMA and Luke Rockhold gets pranked BAD.

Each and every Friday we will bring you five stories that we found the most interesting from the world of mixed martial arts.

1. Matt Hamill rescues child

After pulling out of his WSOF 20 fight with Thiago Silva, Matt Hamill fought another battle. Just days after his scheduled fight, Hamill encountered a vehicle driving the wrong direction on an Ohio highway. When the car veered off the road, “The Hammer” turned into a super-hero.

“Everyone was going like 70 miles per hour,” said Hamill. “She was driving the wrong way, just kind of swerving around. She was going slower but she was going on the wrong side of the street, and you could her face, she was kind of drooling. There was obviously something going on with her that just wasn’t right.”

“It seemed like Pac-Man, trying to avoid all the little ghosts. She was all over the place.”

“If she hadn’t been stopped I definitely feel like someone would’ve ran into something. The mother was on drugs and had been drinking apparently.”

The mother, Nicole Lamendola, 27, failed all field sobriety tests, was arrested, and charged her with driving while intoxicated, a felony, and second-degree reckless endangerment. The child is in the care of a family member.

2. Conor McGregor reads mean tweets

Over the past few week’s Conor McGregor has made himself countless fans, but it also has brought him some enemies as well. In this video from BT Sport, the Irishman reads mean tweets and proves that he truly does not give a crap.

3. Ronda Rousey took over Wrestlemania

At Wrestlemania 31, UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey stole the show. The Rock brought Rousey into the ring to face off with Stephanie McMann and Triple H. The aftermath was Rousey judo tossing Triple H and ragging on McMann’s arm. The tweet below is very cryptic and doesn’t necessarily put a closure to the wrestling chapter in her career.

4. Georges St-Pierre not turning his back on UFC return

UFC President Dana White has said on a couple of occasions as of late that he feels doubtful that former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre would return to the UFC. He even went as far as saying that St-Pierre had, ‘lost the hunger.’

“Dana always does what’s good for the business side,” St-Pierre told the Winnipeg Sun. “I was never angry at him. On the contrary, he had a good reason to say that to come back, you have to be hungry.”

“[White] says he’s sure I won’t come back, that’s his opinion,” said St-Pierre. “I train, I keep myself in shape. I have marks on my body because my body bruises easily and I’m training hard.

“It doesn’t mean I’m coming back, but it doesn’t mean I’m not coming back. I’m thinking about it.”
