Have you ever wondered what it would be like following a victory inside the ring or cage? Who the fighters talk to? What their post-fight meals are? What they dream about or think about when they wake up in the morning? Well, those are amongst the questions that will be answered in MMASucka.com’s series, “After the Bell.”
After the Bell: Gabriel Varga
Canadian Gabriel Varga took home the featherweight championship at this past week’s GLORY 20 event in Dubai, UAE. Varga defeated Dutch fighter Mosab Amrani in a decisive judges decision.
Check out “After the Bell” below.
Who was the first person you spoke with following the fight? What was the conversation like.
After my ring fight interview I went back stage and had a few moments with my corner to let the victory set in. We were all so happy and there was just lots of hugs and smiles.
When you woke up this morning what was the first thing you thought?
I only sleep about 2 hours after each fight because I’m so rested from all the sleeping I do during fight week. But on Saturday morning I woke up in a bit of a daze and for a couple seconds I thought the whole fight and the evening after had been a dream. I had a moment of mini panic where I didn’t want to open my eyes in case the belt wasn’t right beside me. But when I did the belt was right there and I felt a surge of happiness.
After a hard fought bout food must be something you are looking forward to. What was your big post fight meal last night and this mornings.
I didn’t get to celebrate too much with food in Dubai because I couldn’t find the food I wanted, but now that I’m home I’ll start eating my favourite food. That’s one of the biggest things I do to celebrate after a fight. I love having sushi and juice and fish tacos and all other sorts of wonderful foods.
