UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is in police custody.

MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani reported on Monday night (via Twitter) that the current pound-for-pound king has turned himself into the Albuquerque police and has since been booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center.  The police have since confirmed.

Jones was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident on Sunday morning, running a red light which lead to a 30-year old pregnant woman, named Vanessa Sonnenberg, suffering a fractured arm and wrist.

He ran from the scene, but witnesses say that he ran back for a bundle of cash.  Police also found marijuana and a marijuana pipe in the rental Buick SUV, which had paperwork in it that led to a Jonathan Jones.

His bail was set at $2,500.

Jones is expected to defend his belt at UFC 187 next month against Anthony Johnson.
