Another featured bout of the highly anticipated upcoming UFC 187 pay-per-view card next month has been cancelled, as Khabib Nurmagomedov has been forced out of his No. 1 contender’s match at lightweight with Donald Cerrone with an injury.

MMAjunkie.com reported the injury on Wednesday night, although UFC officials have not confirmed this.

The injury wasn’t confirmed, but was reportedly another knee injury.

Nurmagomedov (22-0) is a very anticipated lightweight, currently ranked No. 2 in the UFC.  He suffered a knee injury last year, and has been forced to sit on the sidelines since defeating current champion Rafael dos Anjos via dominant decision at UFC on FOX 11 last April.  He also owns wins over Gleison Tibau, Thiago Tavares and Abel Trujillo.

Cerrone (27-6) hasn’t looked better than ever, currently riding a seven-fight winning streak.  He fought twice this past Janaury, with decisions over Myles Jury and Benson Henderson.  In 2014, he defeated the likes of Eddie Alvarez, Edson Barboza, and more.

This bout was set for the main card.

No replacement has been announced for ‘Cowboy’, although UFC officials are currently looking for a short notice replacement.

UFC 187 takes place live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 23.  The card is headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between Anthony Johnson and Daniel Cormier.
