World Series of Fighting (WSOF.com) has released women’s world strawweight (115 pounds) champion Jessica “JAG” Aguilar from her remaining contractual obligations that spanned one additional fight with the world championship Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) promotion, so that she can ideally pursue competition where it is strongest in her weight division.

“We wish Jessica all the best, and hope that she will achieve everything she wants to in her career that is blossoming,” said WSOF President Ray Sefo. “We sat down with Jessica and her manager and we all agreed that she needs to move on to a place where she can compete against the best 115 pound women in the world.
“We have an incredible and fast-growing roster of world-class athletes at WSOF,” continued Sefo, “but we do not have the best fighters in this particular women’s weight class, so it was time to shake hands and amicably part ways.”
WSOF action returns to NBCSN live on Friday, June 5 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
In the main event of a world championship doubleheader, reigning WSOF world bantamweight champion Lance Palmer (9-1) of Sacramento, Calif. will put his title on the line for the first time when he collides with Chris Horodecki (21-5-1) of London, Ontario, Canada.
In the world heavyweight championship co-main event, Smealinho “The Prince” Rama (9-1) of Calgary, Alberta, Canada will risk his title for the first time againstBlagoi Ivanov (11-1) of Sofia, Bulgaria.
