They say third times a charm. Well that could be the case for UFC women’s bantamweight Miesha Tate.

Following an outstanding performance at UFC on FOX 16 and earning a unanimous decision against the always tough Jessica Eye, UFC President Dana White confirmed that Tate was next in line for the winner of Ronda Rousey and Bethe Correia at UFC 190.

“Yeah, she is,” White said in a post-fight interview with FOX Sports. “She has fought and worked her way back to Ronda [Rousey] and I’m sure it’ll be exciting and fireworks. Miesha Tate once against proves what a durable and tough woman she is. Jessica Eye was shredding her and was literally picking her apart in that first round and Miesha will walk through everything you throw to land what she’s got or to get you to the ground. She pressed the pace; I bet if you sat the two side by side you would think Jessica won the fight looking at their faces. There’s no doubt Miesha won tonight, she looked awesome doing it and I’m always in awe of how just tough she is.”

Rousey is in Brazil, as UFC 190 goes down on August 1, so she was not at the event. However, White was in contact with her throughout the Tate vs. Eye match-up.

“We might have been texting back and forth about the fight a little bit. She says, ‘I’m in selfish mode right now, I’m focused on one thing and one thing only.’ So I was updating her round by round.”
