A pivotal welterweight matchup that could determine the No. 1 contender at 170-pounds has been scheduled for Houston’s UFC 192, as former champion Johny Hendricks is set to take on Tyron Woodley.
The bout was announced on Wednesday’s UFC Tonight.
Johny Hendricks vs Tyron Woodley set for UFC 192
Hendricks is coming off a three-round win at UFC 185 over Matt Brown. Prior to that, he lost his UFC belt to Robbie Lawler at UFC 181 in an anticipated rematch.
Woodley has won two-straight since losing to former title challenger Rory MacDonald with a big knockout over Dong Hyun Kim and a lackluster decision against Kelvin Gastelum.
Hendricks vs. Woodley is expected to be apart of the main card.
UFC 192 takes place live from the Toyota Arena in Houston, TX on Oct. 3. In the main event, Daniel Cormier defends his light heavyweight belt against Alexander Gustafsson.
