A pivotal featherweight matchup between top contenders Max Holloway and Jeremy Stephens has been added to the ultra-stacked UFC 194 card.

Following an initial report from FOX Sports, UFC officials confirmed the news on Thursday.

Holloway is coming off a TKO win over Charles Oliveira that was stopped prematurely in the first round due to an injury suffered by the Brazilian. Prior to that, he picked up arguably the biggest win of his career, a third-round submission over top contender Cub Swanson.

Stephens got back into the winning column with a devastating third-round TKO win over Dennis Bermudez at UFC 189 earlier this summer. Prior to that, he dropped two losses in a row to the aforementioned Oliveira and Swanson.

The card placement for the bout is unknown at this time, but the matchup will likely be featured on the pay-per-view main card.

UFC 194 takes place live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Dec. 12. In the main event, Jose Aldo faces Conor McGregor in a UFC featherweight title unification bout.
