It is official — Fedor Emelianenko will fight on New Years Eve in Japan.

During the Bellator 142: Dynamite 1 broadcast, SPIKE President Kevin Kay made the announcement that SPIKE TV will be the partner in the United States for Nobuyuki Sakikaraba’s New Years Eve event.

Sakikaraba announced that Emelianenko will be one half of the main event in a co-promotion with Bellator MMA in Tokyo, Japan on New Years Eve.

“We are thrilled to join forces with Nobuyuki Sakakibara and our partner, Bellator President Scott Coker, to give MMA fans a big reason to celebrate this New Year’s Eve: Fedor fighting for free on Spike,” Kay said in a statement from Spike TV.

“The Last Emperor” (34-4, 1NC) has not fought since 2012 when he announced his retirement following a knockout victory over Pedro Rizzo. Emelianenko went on a three-fight winning streak prior to leaving the sport, with victories over Satoshi Ishii, Jeff Monson and the aforementioned Rizzo.

Prior to that winning streak, the Russian was riding a three-fight losing skid under the Strikeforce banner, with losses to Dan Henderson, Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and current UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum.

According to the press release from Spike TV, Bellator will allow fighters from their roster to fight on the card.
