Carlos Toyota

RIZIN has announced via Press Release two more fights for their debut card on December 29 featuring the likes of HINATA and Carlos Toyota.

Two more fights added to RIZIN 1

KAZUYUKI MIYATA vs. HINATA WATANABE

First bout announced was a fight between Kazuyuki Miyata (14-9) and one of Japan’s best kickboxers, HINATA Watanabe, in a fight that will be contested under MIXED rules.

Miyata has currently won 3-fights in a row and, though known for his wrestling, has competed under K-1 rules before. So the “mixed rules” concept shouldn’t be too intimidating for him. Come fight time it will have been almost exactly one year since former DREAM title challenger Miyata has had an MMA bout.

HINATA is coming off a kickboxing win over veteran Andy Souwer and is known for his devastating kicks. He has competed under Shoot Boxing rules in the past and during his 2009 stint in K-1 was arguably the center-piece to their 70kg division. He asked RIZIN chairman Sakakibara for a spot on the card via social media and the buzz around that eventually garnered enough attention to get him on the card.

CARLOS TOYOTA vs. KIRILL SIDELNIKOV

The second bout will be a heavyweight contest featuring former DEEP Megaton title challenger; Carlos Toyota as he welcomes “Baby Fedor” Kirill Sidelnikov back from a five-year hiatus.

Japan’s Toyota (6-7-1) is known for his KO power and is coming off a (T)KO loss to Jaideep Singh for the DEEP Megaton title (vacated by Hasegawa) on October 17. Prior to this, he had won three-straight by knockout, including wins over Hong Man Choi and Daiju Takase.

Sidelnikov (7-4) was once a 22-year-old competing in the sport considered to have all the potential of a young Fedor Emelianenko, hence the nickname “Baby Fedor“. After losing the biggest fight of his career to Paul Buentello at ‘Affliction 2’ in January of 2009 via TKO, Sidelnikov went on to go 2-1 in Russia before his last fight in November of 2010. Now 27-years-old, Sidelnikovwill return to action at RIZIN 1, two days before his compatriot Fedor makes his return.

As of right now, this is the fight card for December 29.
